Mardi Gras is a kind of celebration of the year—the celebration of the life and work of the person who had the most to say about the season. It's part of the celebration for us. It's part of who we are. That said, mardi y'all are not the same people as a mardi gras party or a kiddy, dance party or bachelorette party or the weekend night in Hollywood or when the mardi gras festival runs for the week. It's a celebration of the fact that we are living the greatest American city on earth. And it's also part of the celebration to give back to the city that we so completely lost.
