In December 2004, John Lennon and Marilyn Manson formed Al Ball, a group formed with Jonny Greenwood (and other collaborators) who created a new song for Madonna. It didn't go well and eventually ended on the wrong track and got scrapped on the next album. As with many of the Beatles' records, Al Ball's demise was a great success and will live on in our hearts forever (though we'll never know how long they'll live).
This was the last true album by Madonna, for which the band took their name from the popular Italian song Love, which was written by Maria Teresa Laffaro and published in 1962. It contained all of the songs written by Madonna, including their 1992 mixtape "Let It Go".
So yeah… the good news for us is that the new album will be released on June 11th. Let's hope the next "Al Ball Music" is something new, as she could only really have written "Crazy Backbone" off the top of her head for a couple years before she started a new career.
